Spire Storage expansion project progresses in Wyoming
Construction to expand our facility in Evanston, Wyoming is well underway. We’ve excavated the foundation, removed existing piping and begun installing some of the pipeline. This year, we’re drilling six new injection/withdrawal wells and one new saltwater disposal well, which should be wrapped up in November.
Once complete, this expansion will help our customers meet seasonal demand and serve as back up for intermittent renewable power generation in the western U.S. Six of the incremental 16 Bcf are scheduled for in-service in April 2024 and were recently fully contracted during our open season.
Storage hosts Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY)
We recently had the honor of hosting Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) at our Wyoming facility. During this visit, Sen. Lummis and her team were able to witness how natural gas is meeting the growing energy demands of the western U.S. firsthand.
Spire Storage President Scott Smith, General Counsel Sean Jamieson, Plant Manager Matt Walton and Process Engineer Kyle Clark escorted Sen. Lummis around the facility, showcasing how we support the delivery of natural gas.
