Spire donates 1,000 new coats to St. Louis-area children
Keeping kids cozy with fresh winter gear
Spire joined forces with its community partners to deliver new coats to children in the St. Louis area
At Spire, creating warmth is at the heart of what we do—and it goes beyond delivering energy. This winter, we delivered 1,000 brand-new coats to children across the St. Louis area to ensure they are ready to face the chilly season in style.
Spire employees teamed up with our community partners at iHeartRadio and The SOL Foundation, a local nonprofit, for our fifth annual “Winterize Kids” coat giveaway on Dec. 14.
Families from across the region gathered at Clement Auto Group in Florissant to pick up winter gear for their children at no cost. Spire also connected families with financial assistance programs to help them with their energy bills.
Spire Missouri President Steve Mills captured the essence of the event in an interview with KTVI-TV (FOX 2 in St. Louis).
"To put a smile on kids' faces, every single child deserves a coat in the winter," Mills told the news station. "Whether they're going to school, standing at a bus stop or playing, they deserve a coat to stay warm."
In the days leading up to the giveaway, our eastern Missouri employees worked together to unbox and sort every coat. Then, on the big day, they joined forces with BJ “The DJ” Holiday from iHeartRadio and Melanie Norfleet of The SOL Foundation, whose shared presence helped families feel even more welcomed and supported.
The “Winterize Kids” initiative has become a meaningful tradition for Spire, and we’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to help our neighbors.
