Spire delivers new winter gear to kids at Kansas City-area schools

Delivering winter warmth to children in the Kansas City area

Spire donated cold weather gear to schoolchildren to help them take on the cold months in comfort and style

When winter rolls in, having the right clothing can make all the difference—especially for kids. That’s why Spire and its valued partners teamed up to deliver more than 800 coats, hats, and gloves to young students in the Kansas City area on Dec. 4.

This effort reached more than 30 elementary schools across the Missouri West region, where Spire employees and their construction partners—Mears, Miller Pipeline, and Northern Pipeline (NPL)—worked together to make it all happen.

Our team poured care into every step of this project, from sorting and packing to delivering the items to the classroom.

For many, the smiles and excitement they saw from the children left a lasting impression.

“I remember being a kid and having to put socks on my hands because I didn’t have any gloves,” Carl Bowman, a Spire construction supervisor, told KSHB-TV. “I’m seeing their faces light up and the way they’re talking to us. I’m just excited.”

During the deliveries, school staff emphasized how much the coats meant to their students. The winter gear didn’t just provide warmth. It boosted confidence and allowed kids to focus on what truly matters: learning and thriving in the classroom.

At Spire, we believe warmth goes beyond energy—it’s about showing up for our neighbors and creating moments that matter.
