Putting hospitality management on the map
Auburn University is bringing world-class culinary education to the state of Alabama

The Tony and Libba Rane Culinary Science Center at Auburn University started as a dream nearly 20 years ago. Home to the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management, the facility offers best-in-class hospitality management education to students and an elegant dining experience to visitors, shining a light on both Auburn and the state of Alabama.
As part of Spire’s commitment to supporting both Auburn and the future of the culinary industry, we have provided support for The Spire Culinary Corridor, which features state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with the latest culinary technology.
According to the Alabama Tourism Industry’s Economic Impact Report (2021), eating and drinking contribute more than $5B to Alabama’s economy. So with program offerings that include culinary, brewing and coffee roasting, the facility places the entire state of Alabama on the map to become the destination for hospitality management education.
“At Spire, we have a vested interest in growing the economy throughout the communities we serve. But economic development is about more than attracting business – it’s also about developing the workforce of the future and supporting educational opportunities that empower current and future workers.
“Plus, restaurants rely on affordable, reliable natural gas for precision cooking. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support students shaping their own hospitality management education through the Spire Culinary Corridor,” said Robb Carter, manager of large commercial and industrial sales for Spire.
Through real-world business experience, small class sizes that allow for personal attention, and features like a coffee roastery to the Hey Day Market food hall, an impressive rooftop terrace with sustainably sourced gardens, students in the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management get to carve their own path and connect with the best resources in the industry.
