Homeownership is about more than having four walls to call your own, it provides stability, peace of mind and a pathway to financial independence. For those who never thought homeownership would be an option, Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City truly makes dreams come true.

For many years, Spire and Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City have collaborated on volunteer days and special events. Spire provides financial support to the nonprofit and organizes several volunteer groups each year to assist with home building and renovation projects in the Kansas City metro area.

This year, Spire honored the organization with an InSpire Award for their dedication to providing shelter and security to those in need.

At a ceremony held Nov. 13 at the organization’s office, Arthur Cheatham, vice president of field operations for Missouri, presented the InSpire Award to Lindsay Hicks, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City.

In her acceptance remarks, Lindsay noted that the Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City construction crews are always excited to learn when Spire volunteers will be working on one of their projects. She said, "They know on those days, a lot of work will get done."

“It’s a privilege getting to use our skills to give back to those we serve,” Arthur said. “Knowing that our time goes to benefit families in need makes it even more rewarding.”
