Knowing if you need to read your meter

Most of the homes and businesses we serve have an automated meter reading (AMR) device that automatically tells us how much gas you use each month, but in some rare cases, we may need you to read your own natural gas meter and submit the reading to us. We will let you know if you need to read your own meter.

How to read your meter

On an advanced meter:

  1. Activate the meter screen by pressing the button in the upper right corner on front of the meter. The first screen to display will have the index reading as shown below. The meter will stay on this screen for six seconds before scrolling to the next screen
  2. Simply read the give numbers to the left of the decimal in order from left to right. In the example below, the meter reading is 12,345 Ccf.
